This gym is amazing. I joined because I was new to the twin cities and wanted to make some friends and this place has far surpassed my expectations.
The staff and members make you feel like family and the environment reminds me of being part of a sports team. I’ve lost 10 lbs already and have muscles in places I’ve never had muscles before.
There are people of all ages and all athletic levels. I’ve never felt judged and have always been cheered on by everyone at the gym. 100% recommend this place to everybody!! They’re like my new family.
The coaches and workout plans are awesome. I enjoy the group atmosphere it helps push.me to keep going and it's way more fun than working out alone. Definitely recommend!

I think anyone could tell from my recent posts that I’ve loved my experience at Rugged North Fitness. I’ve only been a part of the gym for around 7 weeks now but the results I’ve seen have been well worth it.
Very welcoming atmosphere, friendly and supportive trainers who are always open to answering questions or give advice, and most importantly - ever changing, never boring classes that push you to your limits and make you feel great about the effort you put forth.
Coming from someone who played team sports throughout high school you really build camaraderie with your classmates which makes working out easier in my opinion. And by being a member here, Jay and the team put on events for all of us to get to know everybody outside of our usual classes and have a good time.
If you’re ready to put the work in and are committed to getting yourself right, you definitely won’t regret it.
Jay and his awesome team have quite literally changed my life. I’ve just finished my six week challenge and I will absolutely be continuing my membership beyond the challenge.
Make no mistake, these sadists may put you through some of the most physically demanding/ traumatizing interactions you’ve ever had with a flight of stairs, but the results are undeniable. (I'm convinced Jay talks about burpees in his sleep.) I am currently down 15 pounds and I actually FEEL powerful now. Things that use to challenge me physically, no longer do. I no longer get headaches, a major problem of mine previously, because I am monitoring my water intake, and sticking to a custom provided meal plan from the RNF crew. And perhaps the most gratifying of all, is that my friends and family are noticing the difference both physically and emotionally.
At RNF, the tools are laid in front of you, and it’s up to you to go beyond, and push yourself to use them. They self-describe as a “family,” something I didn’t quite see at first, but can really feel now that I’m busting my ass alongside these people every day.
I would recommend this gym in a heartbeat to anyone who is SERIOUS about changing their body, their habits, and their life. It won’t be easy. I’ve seen people show up the first day, never to be seen again, but if you tell yourself “I can do this,” truly push yourself, and work to your truest limit, your effort WILL be rewarded.
I’ve been coming since January 2015. I left briefly in 2016 to join the Y with my family but I was back in two months. We all have come to know each other and Jay goes that extra mile to make RNF something special. Jay and his crew keep the workouts changing and challenging for all levels. If you are looking for a group workout that is more than working out with a bunch of strangers this is the place. All levels are welcome — from those who haven’t worked out in years to athletes doing things I didn’t know could be done. If you do come give it at least four weeks. You do get better at it, but it doesn’t get easier 🙂
If you want to push yourself in fitness, then these classes are perfect for you but any fitness level can participate. I love the variety, and the people are friendly and supportive. It’s like you have your own personal trainer with Jay. These classes help you form healthy habits and maintain them. I also noticed my aches and pains with getting older go away when I am more active.
About 3 years ago a co-worker and I were introduced to Jay and this gym...we’ve been a part of the 11:30am class ever since! The atmosphere is extremely motivating and the classes keep getting more challenging, pushing me to keep improving. Jay has done an amazing job of developing his gym and I will be a member for a long time!
About a year ago, I was introduced to RNF through a couple of friends who were regulars at the gym. I thought I'd give it a try, and it has changed my life! I love the variety of workouts, the great camaraderie that is built through group fitness, and the fantastic coaches who push each member to do their best. I also love that there are always modifications that can be made to make a particular exercise more challenging or to make it more doable if the exercise is difficult. As someone who has tried a lot of different workouts and routines, this is the best one I've found! Sign up and join the Family!
I have been here about 3 years and have lost over 25 pounds and gained strength, muscle and self confidence. All the trainers are professional and positive! This gym is a family to me and many others who are also members there because we are all here to support each other's health goals and to keep each other accountable. This gym family and 30 to 45 minute Group HIIT workouts is what has kept me coming back!!! You have to like who you work out with and you will really like to come workout everyday with the excellent owner, staff and gym members! I would recommend this gym to anyone who is struggling to loose weight and needs a supportive environment to reach their goals. The results are amazing and they can be seen very quickly. Fantastic gym! My brother introduced me to this place a couple years ago and I’ve been going ever since. The coaches are awesome. Extremely friendly and more than willing to help with any of your questions and concerns. Each day is a different work out. Seems like every week I workout a different muscle in my body. Haven’t gotten bored in 2 years now. Looking forward to many more fun workouts. Definitely, recommend this gym!!!!! Don’t hesitate to sign up!

I always found it really difficult to motivate myself to exercise at a “normal” gym (like LA Fitness, the YMCA, etc) but the coaches and group classes at RNF have given me all the motivation I’ve needed to workout multiple times a week for over a year now. Workouts are always different and always super challenging. Its called Rugged North Fitness for a reason. Definitely recommended for those who want a fun, supportive environment to help them reach their fitness goals.
